Are you hiring?
Thank you so much for wanting to work with us! Unfortunately, we’re not hiring at the moment. When we decide we’re ready to bring on additional staff, we will post on our social media (make sure to follow us!) and on our website.
What are your hours?
Our regular hours are:
- Wednesday through Friday, 11 AM to 6 PM
- Saturday, 10 AM to 4 PM
- Sunday, 12 PM to 4 PM
- Closed Mondays and Tuesdays
Our google hours are always updated, so feel free to check if you’re unsure whether or not we are open.
Are you open on Christmas, New Years Eve, etc.?
Our google hours are always updated to reflect our holiday schedule. Check there!
Does your store allow pets?
Yes! We are pet friendly (within reason). We just kindly ask that you are prepared to clean up after your pet if they have any accidents.
Do you carry kids’ books?
We carry Young Adult novels (rated for ages between 12 to 18), but nothing for younger audiences. If you’re looking for great kids’ books, we recommend Nos Books around the corner from us!
We know your store doesn’t cater to children—can we bring them in?
Yes, of course! However, please note that we can’t promise they won’t be exposed to things not appropriate for children. We also know we have a really cool carousel horse (his name is Fernando!) but he is very delicate, and not for touching or riding.
What is the accessibility information for your store?
Our front door is 36 inches wide. It is not automatic, but our staff is always willing to open the door for you!
We maintain clear aisles throughout the store. If you need assistance, we can move tables to widen aisles.
Our checkout desk is 43 inches tall.
There are no stairs in our store or in our entry.
Does your store have a public restroom?
No.
I’m an author—can I stock my book at your store?
We’d love to consider it! Please check out our author and publisher information page, and make sure to review our anti-AI policy.
What is your policy on AI in stocking items (books and merchandise) in your store?
To the best of our ability, we avoid stocking items created with AI. We do not work with authors who use AI in the writing or marketing of their books, including for their book covers.
We aren’t perfect; if you notice something that we stock was created with AI, we appreciate you bringing it to our attention so we can prevent future mistakes.
Online Orders
Can I cancel my order?
Once an online order is placed, it cannot be canceled. Online orders are final sale.
How soon will my book ship?
Titles that are currently in stock will ship within 2 to 3 weekdays of an order being placed.
Pre-orders will ship within one week of the release. Please note that we can’t guarantee that a pre-order will arrive by release day. If a pre-order comes with incentives, we may need to wait for those incentives to arrive in order to ship; additionally, if a pre-order is backordered through our warehouse, we will need to wait to receive the title, which can cause a delay.
Help! I put in the wrong address! What do I do?
Please submit the contact form below with your correct address and your order number and we will do our best to update your address.
Do you ship internationally?
At this time, we are not able to ship internationally. Hopefully in the future, this can change!
How does your clothing fit? What if I order the wrong size?
Our size guide is listed on each individual item’s page. We recommend closely reviewing the measurements. Online orders, including for clothing, are final sale.
Returns
Can I return or exchange my order?
If you ordered online, all orders are final sale; there are no returns or exchanges.
If you purchased with us in store, you may return or exchange your purchase within one week. After one week, we will no longer accept a return or exchange.
I ordered online, and my order came damaged. What do I do?
We define a “damaged” book is one that comes with:
- Extremely dented or crushed corners
- Crushed or torn pages
- A tear or rip in the spine or on the front of the book
- Water damage
We do not define damage as:
- Small marks on the front or back of a book
- Page bleeding or unevenly sprayed edges (edge-spraying is done by a publisher, and we have no control over the quality)
- Minor indents or creasing at the top or bottom of a spine
- Wavy books (not related to water damage)
We inspect our books and send them to you in sellable condition. You should expect some degree of minimal wear.
However, if your order came damaged, defective, or incorrect, please reach out to us via email at shelflovedsm@gmail.com with your order number and any relevant photos, and we will do our best to make it right.
Event Rentals
Do you do rentals?
Yes, we rent our space for bachelorette parties, birthdays, book clubs, and more. Our rental rates are as follows:
Small Group Rentals (fewer than 10 people)
- $30/hour rental fee
- $25 per person minimum - This can be paid upfront as a flat fee, OR each attendee can spend at least $25 in-store on the day of your event.
Example: 6 attendees for 2 hours
- Hourly charge: 2 × $30 = $60
- Per person rate: 6 × $25 = $150
- Total: $210
Large Group Rentals (10 or more people)
- $50/hour rental fee
- $25 per person minimum - Same as above: paid upfront OR spent in-store on the day of the event.
What are your rental rules and policies?
- All rentals can only occur after hours, once the store is closed. Rentals during operating hours will incur additional fees.
- The hourly rental fee must be paid before the day of your event.
- If you book a rental with less than 2 weeks’ notice, there is an additional $25 fee.
- We can provide 6 white tables (6 ft each) and 36 matching chairs.
- Please do not tape decorations to walls or shelves.
- Damages will be charged after the event if they occur.
- Your booking time includes setup and cleanup. If you need extra time, please book additional hours.
Can you cancel or schedule an event?
- A nonrefundable deposit is required to book. If you cancel, the deposit is forfeited.
- You may reschedule your event once with no fee, as long as it is moved to a new date within 2 months of the original date.
I'm interested in renting. What do I do?
